Darju
Physical description
Darju are muscular and of broadly average height. Males grow a heavy mantle of hair across the shoulders and upper back, while females bear thin bands of pigmented skin. Clothing and protection are traditionally made from animal hides, with rare and dangerous hides serving as visible marks of achievement.
Society and other peoples
Darju gatherings are noisy, boisterous affairs in which boasting is expected and status is displayed through the trophies a hunter wears. They value self-reliance, personal space, and strength, and tend to regard strong emotional attachments as vulnerabilities.
Reserved toward outsiders, Darju can appear intimidating or openly dismissive of customs they consider frivolous. Respect is most readily earned through courage, competence, and a willingness to meet the world directly.
The world and belief
Born hunters, the Darju move through the wild as predators rather than visitors. The difficulty of a hunt matters as much as its practical reward, and a formidable quarry carries lasting prestige.
Darju culture is not notably religious. Its people place their reverence in proven leaders, renowned warriors, and deeds that can be witnessed and remembered.
